Restoration and Revitalization
Vehicles that have aged poorly and are beginning to have that stale
smell linger endlessly in their cabins can be dreadful to drive in, not
to mention painful to look at. If you have a car that’s been neglected
for some time, or is simply starting to show signs of the wear and tear
that’s been building up for years, you may be considering an interior
upgrade, but are unsure of how to proceed. There are generally two paths
to go when modifying a vehicle’s interior: either restore the car to
its original look as best as possible, or revitalize the interior with
modern aesthetics and updated touches. However you decide to proceed is
ultimately up to you, but below we’ll go over some major areas where
interior upgrades can make the most significant improvements.
The dash is the part of the car’s interior a driver is most often looking, with the exception of the front windshield itself. Dashes can get messed up because of everything from soda stains to ink spills, and an unsightly dash doesn’t do much for the value of a car. Dash covers do an excellent job covering up stains and such, and can be selected according to your personal taste. Some drivers prefer bright, bold, and colorful dash covers, while others much prefer something more muted in tone and style. New gauges with upgraded LCD lighting can also modernize a car’s dash display and make it easier to read many of the readings being output from the car.
If you’re looking for just a quick fix to cover up ripped seat cushions and such, aftermarket seat covers can certainly do the trick. For people looking for a more extensive interior car seating overhaul, seat replacements may be better options. Many drivers like to pair new racing seats with specialty racing seat belts for a customized, fun appearance that really switches things up from early seating designs. Other drivers would simply rather have more
comfortable seating, or seats that are in a different color than were there previously. And don’t forget about arm rests, particularly ones with more cup holders or other additional features.
One of the most difficult aspects of older cars to erase is that stale scent that just seems to linger in the cabin. Air fresheners can do quite a bit in making headway on this issue, but they’re not permanent solutions to that stale smell problem. Outdated upholstery tends to be a major root cause of this smell, so new upholstery and particularly, new floor mats, can help rid that car of that moldy, unpleasant scent that’s been bothering you when
driving. Scent is every bit as important to driving comfort as sight, so with a pleasant smell and appearance, a car interior is well on its way to better days.
