vehicle makers other then the big Three (GM, Ford & Chrysler) were the
normally recognized “Orphan Cars”. Such Big Three marques as Edsel &
Desoto were the first exception to the rule with
Plymouth
and Oldsmobile now being recognized as an Orphan. This can also include many
foreign makers who are no longer exporting their vehicles to North America
(US-Canada) and have "orphaned" all
of their vehicles presently in the US and Canada.
