So, did you complete you Studebaker over the winter ‘to-do’ list, I have to admit I came up a little short. I started off with such good intentions, accumulated parts, prepped my work area, planned my approach, the next thing I knew it was April and the Wagonaire was still hiding under the car cover. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been able to pare down the list a little but the big items, head replacement and power steering install, are going to have to wait.
I have been spending time scheduling our list of events for the
upcoming spring tour, this year being held in the town of Wallaceburg.
With input for local members Robert Wheeler and Lorne and Marjorie
Mitton, I think we have a full schedule of very interesting stops.
The dates for this event are May 30-31. Since some of us are traveling
many hours to get there, we have extended this to beyond the normal two
day event, but Saturday and Sunday are the core days. On Saturday we
will visit the Oil Museum of Canada, Uncle Tom’s Cabin and the RM
Classic Car Exhibit finishing with dinner on the shores of Lake Erie.
Sunday will take us along the The Talbot Trail heading west with stops
in Leamington before reaching the Canadian Transportation Museum in
Essex. Sunday there is a car show at the museum, we will have our own
area of parking but will not be an official part of the car show, we
can enjoy the car show, the museum and have a bite to eat at the 50’s
Diner prior to our mid afternoon departure.
From Essex we will head east, many will branch off and head home while
a few of us will take up lodging in Stratford for the night. On Monday
we will head down the road to St. Jacobs for a little shopping before
heading back home.
For those coming from the east, there will be two departure dates. A
few of us are leaving on the Thursday with a stopover in Palmerston for
the night before heading down to Bothwell and the Old Autos publishing
facility on Friday. The other departure is Friday morning, driving
straight through to Wallaceburg Friday. For those wishing to travel
with either of these groups, please contact myself for the Thursday
departure or Will for the Friday departure.
I’m sure this will be another successful event, to ensure it is please register asap. Update : The block of rooms at the host motel has been released.
For those who are stopping over in Stratford Sunday night, the motel
info is: Stratford Suburban Motel-2808 Ontario St E., Stratford 1-800-387-1070.......Book Now....Rate is $89.00
