Come one and all to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Ontario Chapter of the SDC which is being held at the Captain’s Restaurant in Lindsay (Kawartha Lakes), Ontario. Current members and other Studebaker owners along with persons interested in Studebakers are all welcome to attend.
As you maybe award the Bonfire restaurant in Lindsay, where we had the last two AGMs, has moved and it was decided that a new location would be required for this year’s meeting. With the Maple Leaf Tour being in Fenelon Falls this year we wanted to find a place nearby so that we could have more Chapter members attend while driving their Studebakers. Last year we had 8 Studebakers in the Parking lot and moving it to the same weekend as the Maple Leaf Tour has improved our chances of getting our cars out to this event while hoping to get better weather.
Recently Verne Brinsmead, our Maple Leaf Tourmaster gave me a phone call and indicated he had talked to the owners of the Captain’s Restaurant in Lindsay about hosting our AGM. He was able to get a free room and we are also able to order off the menu which is the way to go. They also have a website so I had no problems in giving Verne the go ahead in booking it for this year’s AGM. It’s located just south of Lindsay on Hwy #35, so for most members that are attending the Maple Leaf tour it is a very short distance away. For other members it’s 45 mins north of the 401 at Exit 436.
The AGM starts at 1 PM sharp but feel free to arrive early and have lunch with your fellow Chapter members. The General Elections are not being held this year as we are going into the second year of the current committee’s mandate. We are always looking for Tourmasters in areas that aren’t presently served so if interested please come out and attend so we can help you organize an event in your area.
